Thoreos’ consultants have broad professional experience and a solid academic background. Our team has conducted dozens of projects in consulting and large cap financial operations for clients in several sectors.

Our partners

Paulo Carneiro is a partner at Thoreos. Before joining Thoreos he was a managing director at Banco Santander between 2000 and 2008, where he was responsible for the corporate & investment banking area for the oil and gas, electric power and petrochemicals industries. His work included operations such as liability management, structured trade finance, domestic and international debt issuance, IPOs and Secondary Market Offerings, project finance and M&A transactions. Between 1983 and 2000 Paulo worked for Banco Bozano Simonsen as a managing director, responsible for originating and structuring transactions with government and institutional investors.

Paulo has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a graduate degree in financial administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, as well as an MBA from Ohio University.

André Mota is a partner at Thoreos and a specialist in financial modeling, strategy and business management, supporting companies and investment funds through processes such as valuation, M&A, and new business planning and structuring. Before joining Thoreos André was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Over his 10 year experience as a consultant he served dozens of clients in numerous industries.

André has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UMFG (2001) and an MBA from the IBMEC Business School (2006). He also ministered a course in High Technology Entrepreneurship for Engineering and Computer Sciences at UFMG, and frequently lectures on entrepreneurism, business plans, innovation and strategy.

Rodrigo de Barros is a partner at Thoreos and a specialist in financial modeling, investment management and valuation. Before joining Thoreos Rodrigo was a consultant in the Belo Horizonte Municipal Financial Office as well as an analyst at OPUS Investments and a stock market manager.

Rodrigo has an MSc in Economics from EPGE, Fundação Getúlio Vargas (2006) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UFMG (2003).

Rodrigo is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Márcia Lima is a partner at Thoreos. Before joining Thoreos she was director of Banco Santander from 2000 to 2008 where she was responsible for the corporate area of Minas Gerais, Northeast and Midwest of Brazil. Her activities were focused on assets, liabilities, structured trade finance, debt issues in domestic and foreign markets, IPOs, secondary issues and M&A transactions. From 1989 to 2000 she worked at Banco Bozano Simonsen as a manager, where she was responsible for origination and structuring transactions to private, government and institutional investors.

Marcia holds an undergraduate degree in business administration and accounting, a graduate degree in financial management from Fundação Dom Cabral and an MBA from the IBMEC Business School.

Renata Donato joined Thoreos as an associated. Previously worked as a Top Senior Auditor at Deloitte during approximately 6 years, undertaking projects at several sectors, including Utilities, Chemical Industry, Financial Institutions, Textile Industry and others.

Renata holds a degree in Accountancy and Business Administration with honors. 
Participated in accounting (BR GAAP, US GAAP e IFRS) and taxation courses offered by Deloitte during the period of September 2004 until march 2010.

Júlia Portella joined Thoreos as an associated. Prior to working at Thoreos, Julia accumulated over 4 years of experience in Treasury department and Private Banking of HSBC Bank Brazil, Credit Suisse Hedging Griffo and UBS Financial Services. 
Júlia holds a degree in Business Administration and an International Diploma Program in Finance at University of California - Berkeley. She participated of numerous courses, including Investment Trader (FIA/USP) and Capital Market (APIMEC/MG). She also holds a CNPI certificate (Brazilian national certificate for investment professional).

Marcelo Alves is an associate at Thoreos. Earned the Silver Medal in Electronics and Telecom Engineering from PUC-Minas Gerais, due to his exceptional academic performance. Marcelo also holds a graduate degree in Business from Fundação Dom Cabral and has over 10 years of working experience in projects for mid caps, large caps, financial and infrastructure companies as well as governmental areas throughout Brazil.

Julio Carepa is an associate at Thoreos and holds an undergraduate degree in economics from UFMG (2007), a Master of Science degree from the same school acquired in 2009, as well as a CBA in Finance and Controllership from Ibmec (2011). Julio has worked as a consultant in planning, impact evaluation and research projects for clients such as the Administrative Center in Minas Gerais, the Brazilian Cities Ministry and Health Ministry, among others.
